The erector spinae group, also known as sacrospinalis or extensor spinae, spans from the sacrum to the skull, running longitudinally along the spine. It is attached to the sacrum, the five lumbar vertebrae, and the lower thoracic vertebrae. As the fibers ascend, they diverge at the thoracic level into three distinct muscle groups:
In the cervical region, the erector spinae muscles are covered by the nuchal ligament, while in the thoracic and lumbar regions, they are enveloped by the thoracolumbar fascia. These muscles are further subdivided based on the specific regions of the vertebral column or skull they attach to, such as lumborum, thoracis, cervicis, and capitis.
The erector spinae muscles are the strongest in the back and bear most of the load required to support the spine. They are both extensors and rotators of the axial skeleton and are innervated by the lateral branches of the dorsal rami from cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spinal nerves.

Please prepare (at least) one exercise you would like feedback on. Active participation is encouraged to gain the full benefit of the session.
Sessions require a minimum of two participants. If fewer than two students are registered 48 hours in advance, the session will be cancelled.
Mentor Reviews are scheduled based on participant availability. You will receive a confirmation email once your session is finalized.
